Beautiful open grassland country makes up the MacKenzie Country with native beech forest and alpine plants heading up to the alpine areas.

You might also visit Mt John to enjoy the Alpine Springs Hot Pools or go ice-skating.

The beautiful stone Church of the Good Shepherd is also found on Lake Tekapo shores. It was the first church in the Mackenzie Basin and provides beautiful views of the lake and mountains from the pews over the altar.
